Entertainment Alternatives in Santa Rosa, CA

Santa Rosa is located in the heart of California's famed Wine Country, and has many wineries and vineyards nearby. Other nearby attractions include the Russian River Resort Area, the Sonoma Coast along the Pacific Ocean, Jack London State Historic Park and the redwood trees of Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve.

Downtown Santa Rosa is home to the central Old Courthouse Square and historic Railroad Square, and is a shopping, restaurant, nightclub, and theatre area.

Luther Burbank Home and Gardens is a city park containing the former home, greenhouse, gardens, and grave of noted American horticulturist Luther Burbank (1849-1926). The park is open daily without charge; a fee is charged for guided tours. The gardens include many of Burbank's horticultural introductions, with collections of cactus, fruit trees, ornamental grasses, medicinal herbs, roses, and walnuts.

The Redwood Empire Ice Arena ("Snoopy's Home Ice") is a popular Northern California indoor ice rink. It was owned by Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz when it opened on April 28, 1969. The Arena offers public skating, private ice time, figure skating, junior hockey, and adult hockey. It is also host to the annual Snoopy's Senior World Hockey Tournament, in which 64 teams from all over the world come to Santa Rosa for a week-long hockey tournament in the summer.

Annadel State Park offers many recreational activities within its 5,000 acre property. Plant communities in the area include California oak woodland, Douglas fir forest, chaparral, grassland, marsh and woodland riparian zone. Visitors can enjoy the park's diverse wildlife and scenery during any time of the year but are perhaps most rewarded from April through June when most wildflowers are in bloom.

Other local attractions in the area include the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center, the Sonoma County Museum, Safari West, and Spring Lake County Park.
