Are you looking for a job? Whether you have just moved to a new piece of Santa Rosa California real estate or have found yourself out of a job, the search for employment has become a common theme among people in the city. Often, the search can be quite frustrating as people don't really know where to start looking for satisfying jobs which will also pay the bills. Here are a few ideas.
Job Banks
One of the first places people look is to community resources, and those include job banks. You can find these in municipal buildings and also on the Internet. Using an online collaboration tool, many companies sync up with government sites in order to get job vacancies filled.
Job banks are all different. Some may be geared towards industry, and you will find vacancies which need to be filled by someone with experience in the latest strapping system. Others will cater to food and hospitality industries, work within the city, and so on.
One of the biggest strikes against job banks is that the majority of jobs tend to be labor intensive, and more often than not low paying.
The Local Paper
People can forget what a gold mine a paper can be for the local job seeker. Often when we think of looking for a job in the paper, the classifieds are the only section we turn to.
However, a paper can be full of information important to the local job seeker. Look for stories about a new facility or company moving into the area. A company specializing in home health care, Toronto based, may be moving into Santa Rosa, for example. This company will be looking for workers, although they may not advertise publicly. Find out from the story where the headquarters are; if that's not in there try giving the paper a call.
The Internet
We touched a bit on the Internet above, but we should expand on that idea a little bit. Almost all companies and corporations, from law to Canadian trademark firms, maintain websites. And, almost all of these websites have a section dedicated to employment opportunities. If you find a local company you wish to work for, it can be worth it to take a look at their website to see if they are looking for employees, and in what areas.
Word of Mouth
And finally, there is still nothing better than word of mouth when it comes to seeking out local employment. Your friends, family, and neighbors will likely have an idea about who is looking for workers and what kind of work you will do. Moreover, that person can be a great reference if they have worked in the plant with strainers or in the schools washing floors, or whatever it is the hiring company does.
